Her Story
Jacqueline Mukamugema
I was living a difficult life before I join Abahizi Rwanda Community and the last four years were the worst part of my life. My husband has left me with two children and the little one was one month old when I heard about Abahizi Rwanda starting in Masoro in 2013. I couldn’t come and apply for a job to join as I was not strong enough and I was emotionally wounded. I hardly managed to feed my little kids. Later, I joined a training school where I gained stitching skills. In 2017, I heard an announcement about a job in Abahizi Rwanda, I came and with other many job seekers, I applied, did a stitching exam and I passed. During these three years, since I joined Abahizi Rwanda, I benefited from salary and managed to send my kids to school; the little one is in primary one, and the firstborn is in High school, year one. They are happy and we are living in my house that I keep improving with time. As an employee, I performed well in my duties, I learned a lot through the life skills program especially with counseling services, I now feel healed and confident, happy, and successful. I was recently promoted from a normal artisan to a team leader. I thank Abahizi Rwanda for all the help and opportunities.
