Abahizi Rwanda | Our Journey
We’ve come a long way since where we began in 2013. As Abahizi Rwanda has grown, so has the women we’ve been able to hire and the impact we’ve been able to make. Our partners play an integral role in helping us carry out our mission. Together, we have created a business and community that empowers women by equipping them with the tools and resources that improve the lives of their families and create a positive economic and social footprint on the broader Masoro community.

Using Business as a Force for Good
B Corps are for-profit companies certified by the nonprofit B Lab to meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.
What is B-Corp Certification?
We are one of the first organizations in Rwanda to be B Corp certified. B Corporations are leaders of the global movement of people using business as a force for good. Unlike traditional businesses, we're legally required to consider the impact of our decisions on all of our stakeholders (e.g. employees, suppliers, consumers, the community and the environment). And being B Corp isn't just a rubber stamp for us - it's the ethos that runs through our DNA here at Abahizi Rwanda; to be exceptional for the business, the wider community, and ourselves.
What does this mean for Abahizi Rwanda?
Since 2013, we’ve been doing things differently, constantly seeking new and innovative ways to deliver positive impacts to our artisans, community, and our clients. Our B Corp score reflects this track record and is a testament to all the hard work put in by the team here over the years. Achieving B Corp certification gives an official status to our operating model. And, it brings us together with a community of businesses who share our views and support our Profit for Purpose model. It also, provides us, for the first time, with benchmarks from other organizations who are equally committed to delivering positive impacts, without compromising commercial viability.
