Her Story
Josée Uwimana
Before I joined Abahizi Rwanda, I was a job seeker. In 2014, I heard about Abahizi Rwanda offering part-time job, I came and started the work using a needle on embroidery. Later, a few days later, we were trained to stitch with electric stitching machines, then we did an exam and I passed it. So, I became a successful machine operator and that was my first promotion. From there, I have been a team leader of the machine operators team. In 2016, I was promoted as a coordinator and that made me happy though I was afraid to lead a big number of people and I was not confident to speak in public. My positive side is to do and complete all I have to do, I am able to listen and help everyone under my responsibilities. My growth has become so quick as in 2017 I was elected as the President of Masoro Community Vendor Facility Cooperative, and I am a member of the Board of Directors. Recently I was promoted from Assistant Production Manager to Production Manager and I feel motivated and I am performing well. Before I join Abahizi Rwanda, we were renting a house, but for now, with my family, we live happily in our own house and life has changed for good. I thank the Abahizi Rwanda community for all the help, empowerment, and trust.
